We have a tremendous opportunity for a Chief Accounting Officer with a $5B - $10B Indiana based financial institution who is experiencing tremendous growth. This role is to provide high level support for the CFO and to work closely with the various lines of business.
While this role will play a significant role today, what is appealing is the career path. For the right person, the career path is to a Deputy CFO and ultimately will lead to the CFO role.
Here is what you would be doing:
The Chief Accounting Officer reports to and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to execute the overall goals for the finance and accounting department. In this role you will build and leverage relationships across various lines of business while directing functional areas of the accounting department.
Essential Job Functions include:
Assist in managing the bank’s finance-related activities, including investor relations, financial management and reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and tax management.
Work with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy and Treasury Officer to incorporate strategic planning information into management reports, including revenue, expense, operating, and capital spending budgets.
Ensure management accounting tools are being utilized effectively.
Work closely with subsidiaries accounting and finance team to ensure accurate consolidation and reporting.
Oversee monthly reconciliation completion and review.
Review monthly internal reporting requirements.
Assist in review of annual audited financial statements.
Research accounting and regulatory guidance on complex transactions to ensure accurate recording.
Provide leadership direction and mentorship to include fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continual professional growth to the accounting department.
Required to maintain the strictness of confidentiality in all matters.
Ensure a department in compliance with FDICIA requirements and maintain internal controls in the financial reporting process.

Here is what our client requires:
A professional with high level accounting knowledge and the ability to manage multiple complex transactions
A thorough understanding of the financial planning and analysis process and financial reporting requirements.
Undergraduate degree in Business Administrations, Accounting, Economics or Finance degree or equivalent experience required; Masters in the aforementioned areas preferred.
CPA Certification preferred.
Must have significant partnership and strategic alliance experience.
Ten (10) years progressive financial management experience at a financial institution.
Five (5) years’ experience as a high-level accounting manager, preferably at a financial institution with assets size exceeding $3-$5 billion
